Kirkby Stephen 6 miles is a bustling market town with supermarket, shopping, Tourist Information Centre, library, pubs and restaurants. Appleby, an ancient market town with pretty cobbled streets, inns and shops, lies 7 miles away, also has a public swimming pool. Great Asby (3 miles) has a pub serving food.
