RAVENSHILL HOUSE, Kielder

Nestling on a hillside in the unspoilt and tranquil setting of the Northumberland National Park, this spacious Victorian house has five bedrooms, a large farmhouse kitchen with Aga, sitting room with open fire and glorious views over the garden to the surrounding countryside. The garden attracts wildlife from the nearby forest - deer, woodpeckers and red squirrels are regular visitors. This is an ideal location for exploring the spectacular Kielder Water and Forest, and is perfect for family gatherings and larger parties. It is also the perfect place for simply relaxing and enjoying the tranquillity of the surrounding forest, the largest natural woodland in the UK. Located alongside other holiday properties, many activities are accessed straight from the doorstep - superb walking, cycling, fishing, sailing, water skiing and bird watching (including rare Osprey). An excellent way to explore Kielder Water - the largest man made lake in northern Europe - is by the ferry that regularly sails around the lake. Kielder is very sparsely populated and many visitors comment on the spectaculary bright stars at night. Hadiran’s Wall with its Roman forts, the many castles of the Scottish borders and Northumberland’s superb beaches and quaint villages are all within easy reach. Pub, shop and bike hire 1 mile.
